(Before & After Videos/Photos at bottom of page)

"..see your younger self looking back.."

What is SculptraTM?

Sculptra® is an injectable treatment that works by stimulating the build up of the body's own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Sculptra's® volumising effect also restores lost facial volume, resulting in a fuller younger-looking face. The overall effect is a youthful appearance with gradual, natural-looking results.

Suitable areas for Sculptra®:

Sculptra® is suitable for a number of areas on your face:

- Deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Folds around the corners of the mouth (marionette lines)
- Sunken cheeks
- Wrinkling in the cheeks or chin
- Deep scars

Why Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is a discreet approach which allows a gradual effect to occur. Usually 2 or 3 treatments are required and natural-looking effects should become noticeable after approximately six weeks.

Clinical studies have shown that the results of Sculptra® can last for more than 3 years, significantly longer than many other injectable treatments.

It is well tolerated with over 17,000 treatments in the UK since 2005. (Over 150,000 worldwide since 1999). The main ingredient of Sculptra® has been used in medicine for over 10 years and is biocompatible and biodegradable.

No allergy testing is required before treatment.

Sculptra® is sold by sanofi-aventis, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies.

How is Sculptra® different?

A number of choices are available to you when you are deciding on treatment. Common temporary fillers do not provide long term reduction of wrinkles and creases, and their results are often short-lived. Permanent implants can remain for many years but cannot accommodate continued changes in appearance that occur with age. Sculptra® is different. Sculptra® is a volumising agent as it reduces deep wrinkles and folds, and replaces the fullness of your face which has been lost to the ageing process. Sculptra® works by stimulating your own facial collagen production to replenish your skin and so providing natural looking results. It works gradually to restore what has been lost and once your treatment plan is complete, the results can last for more than 3 years.

Who performs treatment with Sculptra®?

A qualified practitioner who has been trained to use the correct procedures for Sculptra® performs the treatment in their practice.

Does the treatment hurt?

As with all injections you will feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief burning sensation at the injection site. An ice pack applied after the treatment will help to calm your skin. If necessary your practitioner will also give you a local anaesthetic.

What must I bear in mind after the treatment?

Your Healthcare Professional will give you special aftercare instructions. These include massaging the treated areas of your face in the first five days after treatment. All you need is a five minutes five times a day. Inform your Healthcare Professional if any side effects occur, for example inflammation of small bumps in the treated area.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effect with the use of Sculptra® includes bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of injection. These side effects generally resolve in 2-6 days. One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra® can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These small bumps may not be visible, and you may notice them only when you press in the treated skin. These bumps tend to happen within the first 6 to 12 months after the first treatment. Occasionally these bumps go away on their own. Visible bumps, sometimes associated with redness or colour change to the treated area, have also been reported. As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is risk of infection. Report any side effects to your Healthcare Professional.

Are the result's from Sculptra® immediate?

At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra® worked immediately because of the swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra® takes time to work, results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks. Your Healthcare Professional will see you again in a few weeks to assess you: generally, 2 to 3 treatments may be necessary to obtain the required results. However, in contrast to some other treatments which require refresher sessions, after the end of your Sculptra® programme the results can last for more than 3 years (However, the results can differ depending on age, wrinkling and the type of procedure used).
